YOUR ASSIGNMENT, YOUR ACHIEVEMENT

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

ACTS 9:15-16

“You were sent to the world to achieve unique tasks and your achievements in life will be measured by these unique tasks.”

John the Baptist had a destiny and very specific assignments which he had to carry out in the fulfillment of this destiny particularly, as it relates to JESUS, the Christ. His job was to prepare the way for the Messiah and that he did. In our text today, we see JESUS speaking to Ananias about the purpose of Paul the Apostle. Looking at the history of this hero of faith, he suffered for the sake of the kingdom but not only that, he was more than willing to suffer for Christ’s sake having known his purpose. Just like John, just like Paul, just like the Patriarchs of Faith who have gone ahead, so is everyone on earth sent by God on very defined assignments including you and I.

Real achievement therefore is accomplishing the task for which God sent you to the world, not the assignment He gave to your brother or friend. Your assignment is the yardstick for which you will be judged in the school of destiny actualization. Real achievements by the record of Heaven therefore has absolutely nothing to do with position or power, because after all said and done, your life will be summarized by whether you achieved your life’s purpose as designed by God or not.

I have found out that men of purpose are never afraid to die in the pursuit of their purpose. They will go the extra mile, do whatever they have to do and pay any price in the course of actualizing their God given purpose. May I ask you today, what is your purpose? Why are you here? What did God send you here to achieve? Have you discovered it? Are you very sure you are not running on another man’s lane? Friend, do not be deceived, if after you have made a name, had fame, built houses, bought cars, you failed in the light of purpose, you would have failed indeed.

Just Do It

  • Stop comparing yourself with another person, your assignment differs from theirs.
  • Seek to discover your assignment from God, the Author of your life and when you find it, focus ardently on its actualization.

Prayers

  • Father, I run to You today, unveil my life’s purpose to me and help me to pursue it till the very end, in the Name of JESUS.
  • Let every arrow of distraction fired at me in the pursuit of my assignment return to its sender, in the Name of JESUS.
