Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

Do you know how powerful prayer is? Prayer can do and undo. Prayer can lock doors and open doors. Prayer can set prisoners free. Prayer can shut the Heavens. Elijah was subject to like passions as we are; that implies there was nothing special about Elijah but the difference Elijah made was by one thing only – he prayed. He prayed earnestly and there was no rain for 31/2years. Everybody suffered because of one man’s prayer; so who can pray best wins the day.
By the Scriptures, we understand that during Elijah’s day, there were 7,000 other prophets who didn’t bow to Baal but they could not match Elijah in prayer power, they couldn’t see his back. The superiority of Elijah to the 7,000 was his prayer power. They were suffering famine that was caused by a man of prayer meanwhile the man of prayer was being sustained by God supernaturally and mysteriously.
When Paul and Silas were thrown into prison in Acts 16:25,what did they do? They prayed and there was an earth quake. What happened thereafter? The prison doors opened, the bands were loosed and that was it. You can pray your way out of any form of bondage. You can pray your way out of the shame. The devil had said you won`t achieve what you were born to achieve but if you can pray, you can tell the devil, “Just watch out for me because all the demons in hell do not have what it takes to stop a man of prayer who will pray without ceasing.”
Some of us have been running around too much, it’s time to kneel down too long. When Peter took up the sword and smote the ear of a servant of the high priest, JESUS said – “Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?” Matthew 26:53
JESUS said, “You don’t need to do that because even now I can pray my Father and He’ll send me legions of angels.” The Master was saying, “Even now, I have a secret weapon, there is something I can do, I can pray.” If I pray, there’ll be turnaround; if I pray, the mountains will shift; if I pray, my story will change; if I pray, I will deal with all these demons that are up against my life.
You know deep inside you that this is not your level. Until your prayer level changes, your real level in life will not change. You are waiting for God to do something, God is waiting for you to do something because God will never do anything on the earth until someone ask Him to. That is why one of the worst attacks the devil can bring your way is an attack on your prayer life. You can’t explain why for some very strange reason you cannot pray.
That means the devil did not just attack you, but first and foremost he had set up a massive assault on your prayer life because he knows the only way he can succeed is when you are grounded. It is time to rise up and undo the works of darkness in your domain. It is time to put a stop to the devil’s pranks and take on the mantle of prayer. You must win!
