For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Hebrews 5:12
One of the major problems in the body of Christ today is that we have a lot of people who have grown old but have not grown up. They are old in the faith, they have been born again for donkey years, but they have refused to mature in the things of God. Sadly, there are too many like that in the body of Christ today. Friend, It is not how long you have been in the faith that counts, what counts is how much of growing up has happened in your life since you became born again.
That you gave your life to Christ many years back is not a guarantee that you know anything about life in Christ. You see, if care is not taken, those years you are counting are the very years that will stand against you in judgment because that means, having had access to the grace of God for those number of years, you have wasted it and made a mockery of your redemption because you have not taken deliberate steps to become a mature believer.
People who grow old yet refuse to grow up, become very dangerous in the body of Christ because people who just gave their lives to Christ will be looking up to them, taking in whatever they do as being correct, thinking they should know better because of the length of years in which they have been in the faith. These old yet immature believers could end up misleading many people. Unknown to them, there will be many people’s blood on their hands, the many lives which they have destroyed because of their ignorance and immaturity when we all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
It is just like your two year old child can get hold of your very expensive phone and dip it in a bucket of water thereby rendering it useless. But you know that your child loves you quite alright but has destroyed your phone, not deliberately, but because of ignorance and immaturity. So also does a believer destroy things and people in the body of Christ, when they refuse to grow up. Today, I came to charge you to take a decision for spiritual growth and pursue it at all costs.
